9. The captain's helpers, not wait staff


Many assume attendants mainly pour drinks and collect trash. In truth their core duty is to extend the captain's awareness throughout the cabin. The captain oversees safety and crisis response; attendants act as trained observers.

They patrol assigned zones and drill for emergencies. Standard procedure requires regular check ins with the cockpit, often at least every hour. That constant watchfulness builds the safety net that lets passengers sit back.
